What struck again and again: Not only Battle Royale newcomers experience in “Apex Legends” game rounds in which they die immediately after landing. Where Gibraltar, as a classic fighting colossus, goes to battle and protects the entire group with his shield, Lifeline is the perfect combat paramedic. In the battle, however, the free-play Mirage uses a double to go to a marked target, acting as a target and diversionary maneuver for the opponents. Important for frequent players: Each character in “Apex Legends” is customizable through skins, the already mentioned banners, rough slogans, and finishing moves.

Technically at the height

The playground is a map called “Kings Canyon”. There is a burnt forest in one area, and another is a concrete bunker. There are also high mountains and rocky landscapes, rivers, and plains. Visually, “Apex Legends” plays for a Battle Royale title in the luxury class. Granted, the texture wallpapers are not razor-sharp at close range – the modified graphics engine based on “Titanfall” does not do that. But the technology is moving at the level of a full price. In addition, the game runs smoothly at any time and controls both with mouse and keyboard as well as with the controller comfortably directly and always accurately.

The size of the map is similar to the first estimate with the map from the blackout mode of “Call of Duty – Black Ops 4”. Vehicles are only available in “Apex Legends” as decoration, but there are so-called “Jump Towers” – red, well-visible balloons floating on a yellow string in the air. If you pull yourself up from the bottom of the rope, you will fly in a decent and overcome larger distances faster.
