The Original Super Mario Was Sold For $ 100,150
The never-open cult game in near-perfect condition achieved a record price in an auction.
The auction was held in the USA by Heritage Auctions. The cult game for the Nintendo console NES was released in 1985, unopened and in almost perfect condition. The new owner of the 34-year-old game is a group of collectors. The collectors share the property.
Not only the impeccable condition makes the issue of this game something special. This copy was part of an early test sales launch Nintendo had made in New York in October 1985 and early 1986 in Los Angeles. The US-wide sales start is only in September 1986.
