Warhammer Chaosbane: Diablo Clone With a Co-Op License

The waiting for “Diablo 4” is far from over. But with “Warhammer Chaosbane” comes more than just a small consolation.

Why is there before no one draufgekommen? A Diablo clone in the classic Warhammer universe fits like a pot on a lid. The Games Workshop template offers more than enough matching stories, backdrops, and heroes for around action RPG. COMPUTER IMAGE GAMES has already played. Here are the first impressions.

Warhammer Chaosbane: Real heroes, not avatars

As pawns are four Warhammer heroes with their own background story to choose from. These are by author Mike Lee, who has already published over a dozen Warhammer novels. In order for everything to be right in the Warhammer universe, the customization options and even the weapon and armor equipment options are within the strict limits of the grand template.

Forecast: Warhammer Chaosbane

It is of course technically not a joke to copy the now eight-year-old “Diablo 3”. But the Warhammer license gives the game a very unique atmosphere. In addition, graphic details worked out down to the smallest detail make even the smallest menu even more interesting. The playability is also correct: the control is now direct and easy to control. Thanks to the co-op modes, “Warhammer Chaosbane” could be a real party hit. It is really only missing Crossplay on the wish list.

Per

  • Strong Warhammer atmosphere
  • Smooth control
  • Versatile skill system
  • automatic functions
  • Various co-op modes

Contraindications

  • Randomized levels
  • Limited equipment features
  • No crossplay
  • Sometimes very confusing
The choice of the hero determines the playing style: the imperial soldier Konrad Vollen is the classic tank that goes where it hurts. The dwarf-like Slayer Bragi Axebiter whirls like a dervish with his axes through the rows of opponents, while High Elf magician Elontir from the background shoot lightning from the sky. The Waldelfen tracker Lore is a master in dealing with bows and arrows, but also understands the handling of knives, poison, and traps. These four heroes were created specifically for the new game. In the course of the game, you will also meet many old acquaintances from the sprawling Warhammer universe.
The adventure starts in the imperial capital Nuln and leads you through extensive dungeons and war-torn villages as well as the accursed city of Praag. According to Production Director Jean-Georges Levieux, large parts of the game environments are randomly generated by the developer Eko Software: “However, the starting points and the end areas with the level bosses are individually designed by us”.

Warhammer Chaosbane: complex or casual

Up to four players can simultaneously engage in diabolic combat, either on a PC or console or online, or both mixed, on any platform. Only crossplay will probably not be possible. But “Warhammer Chaosbane” also opens up to the casual players. “If you do not want to, you do not have to worry about the distribution of skill points, it will work automatically,” explains Jean-Georges Levieux. He himself is a big fan of Diablo3, which he plays with his daughter on a regular basis and that has also brought him to an important idea. “What bothered us most about playing Diablo was that you can not do anything when the other player fiddles with the equipment menu. With us, you can just continue playing and the player follows automatically. “

Warhammer Chaosbane: Tree of Knowledge

However, the action role-playing game does not lack complexity. Each pawn has six skill slots that can be manned with various attack and defense techniques, as well as special moves such as beaming. In total, more than 180 such skills are available, which are strengthened and expanded by fragments via a complex tree diagram. The campaign is expected to offer a game duration of around twelve hours. Then there are other game modes such as the “Boss Rush” to choose from, in which you must defeat the end bosses of the series within a time limit. And at Relic Hunting, you can search for the rarest pieces of equipment.

Warhammer Chaosbane: Two Versions

“Warhammer Chaosbane” is released in two editions: the Magnus Edition includes a Season Pass and the Deluxe Pack, which includes new quests, three DLCs, a Pet Pack, an Emote Pack and a Gold Boost. The retail version of the Magnus Edition comes in a Leatherbook. In addition, the cheaper Classic Edition will be available without these extras.
