Battlefield 5 – Big Operation “Battle Of Hannut” Comes With Rush Mode Today

The next Grand Operation of Battlefield 5 will be released today. In “The Battle of Hannut” the classic rush mode is making its comeback.

EA has the next big operation of Battlefield 5 imagined: Starting today, the February 21, you can to “participate in the Battle of Hannut.” Among other things, there is a reunion with the classic rush mode.

The operation is based on the eponymous Battle of World War II, in which the Axis forces with their Blitzkriegtaktik moved on the way to the Netherlands by Hannut in Belgium. The Battle of Hannut spans three to four days and plays on Maps Panzerstorm and Arras.

Overview of Battlefield 5: The Battle of Hannut

Day 1

  • Map: Panzerstorm
  • Mode: Airborne

Day 2

  • Map: Panzerstorm
  • Mode: Breakthrough

Day 3

  • Map: Arras
  • Mode: 64-player rush

Day 4 (in case of a tie)

  • Map: Arras
  • Mode: Last Stand

Rush does not take place here with the usual 32 players, but with twice the number: Whole 64 players beat themselves here for the victory. The attackers have to put bombs in this mode and the defenders have the task of defusing the explosives or to completely exhaust the respawn tickets of their enemies.

As of March 7, there will also be Classic Rush mode with 32 players as a time-limited event on the “Bent Steel”, “Narvik” and “Destruction” maps. Outside of this event, however, Rush is only allowed to play in The Battle of Hannut on the Panzerstorm card.

The origin of the rush mode

Rush comes from Battlefield: Bad Company and was still called “Gold Rush” here. For the release of the game that was its only game mode. Only with the successor Battlefield: Bad Company 2 changed the name of the mode. It exists since then in most parts of the series.

Unlike most other game modes, the special feature is that Rush has asymmetric elements. The two teams do not fight under the same conditions but have to fulfill different goals.

Panzerstorm with an update of Lightning Strikes

The “Panzerstorm” map originally appeared with the Overture update. However, in Chapter 2: Lightning Strikes, the Battlefield 5 developer rewrote them at the end of January with extra coverage, anti-tank, and a larger maximum height for airplanes to make battles more exciting.

EA reworked Battlefield 5’s Panzerstorm card at the end of January.

In the same update, the Germans also got a new tank with the Sturmgeschütz IV. He can not turn his main cannon separately from the rest of the tank. To make up for that, however, he is a smaller target for his enemies.

Battlefield 5 will continue to evolve in the future. Only a few days ago, the developer promised to add a second weapon class for the Medic. The only had access to the MP and were therefore dependent on the melee. And also in technology changes a lot. So the team expanded the options of the multiplayer shooter with the new DLSS anti-aliasing, a feature of Nvidia’s RTX cards.
