Apex Legends: Your Favorite Hero May Have A Big Disadvantage
A fan of Apex Legends has found that the hit zones for the legend Pathfinder are significantly larger than its model. This is a big disadvantage for all friends of the lovable robot.
What is this disadvantage? Tests have shown that the different legends in Apex Legends also have different sized Hitbox.
Some heroes are so much easier to hit than others. This finding has already been confirmed by Respawn.
Who found that out? Streamer SookieSpy has reviewed the hitboxes of various heroes in a short clip. He played the tutorial and equipped himself with weapons. In the tutorial, the legends Bloodhound and Pathfinder are available as allies as NPCs.
Both have the streamer shot. Hit the ball a hit zone, spurting blood. Otherwise, nothing happened. The streamer has found that the Hitbox of Bloodhound fits the model accurately, while in Pathfinder it is much larger than his body.
This phenomenon was discussed on Reddit. There was also a response from Respawn. Apparently, the problem is already known: The Hitbox of Pathfinder is actually larger than the model.
Respawn was already discussing the phenomenon. What you will do about it, you can not say exactly.
What is Hitbox? A hitbox, or hit zone, is an invisible area around a character’s model. If you shoot a character, you will not meet his model, but the hitbox.
The hitbox indicates at what point how much damage is done. So the head counts as a critical hit zone with increased damage.
Hitboxes are based on the model and should be as precise as possible, both to facilitate the goal, as well as to create fairness:
What does that mean for me? For players, playing Pathfinder is a disadvantage. It is easier for others to meet him, as they do not have to aim at the model but can still hit with warped balls.
In particular, this is a disadvantage if you as Pathfinder encounter opponents with automatic weapons, such as the new Havoc in Apex Legends. The weapons have a high damage output, but to compensate also a correspondingly high dispersion.
However, the scattering is less relevant in this case because the balls can still catch Pathfinder where they would fly past other legends.
Who is still affected? Apart from Pathfinder and Bloodhound, no other legends from Apex Legends have been tested yet.
However, there is already speculation in the corresponding Reddit thread about other characters with disadvantageous or advantageous Hitbox for them:
Is your favorite legend affected?
Incidentally, if in Apex Legends you feel like PS4 Teammates are just looking up, that might be true.
