The official kickoff of free agency is today, and already, rumors and reports of players coming and going are hitting the presses. Below is a list of reports affecting the New York Jets.

Damon Harrison- Two things are becoming clear. Damon Harrison is going to get a big payday, and it will not be with the New York Jets. Harrison was reportedly likely to end up a Tennessee Titan yesterday, but now you can add the New York Giants to that list. The New York Daily News is reporting that the Giants are looking to steal Harrison away from their “cross town rival”. I do not get the whole cross town rival part, as they play in the same exact place. It is more like they are trying to steal their roommates girlfriend. Snacks is sure to have a whole lot more cheddar soon. If (when) the Jets lose Harrison, they will look to sign Nick Fairley who played for the Rams last. Update: He has signed with the Giants apparently.
Ryan Fitzpatrick- The NY Jets are now in a game of high stakes chicken when it comes to their quarterback. The Jets believe that he is not worth his asking price, and that he will not get it from another team. Unfortunately, it just takes one General Manager to prove them wrong. It’s very possible he returns to the Jets, but we won’t really know what’s going on until he picks a team, as the NY Jets are playing everything very close to the vest. Chris Ivory- Ivory will be a Jacksonville Jaguar as of today. Chris Rapoport of the NFL Network and NFL.com is reporting that Ivory has signed a contract in excess of 6milion dollar per year. It is notable that Ivory averaged 3.7 yards per game over the last twelve games of the season, and found himself riding the bench against the Buffalo Bills in the season finale. It became clear that he was not a good fit in Chan Gailey’s offense despite his hard running style and the NY Jets do not have the money to match this kind of offer, but true Jet fans have to be happy for Ivory. Running backs rarely get this kind of payday in this day and age.
Bilal Powell- Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News is reporting that the New England Patriots are interested in Bilal Powell. Also interested are Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens. The New York Jets may have to rebuild their backfield this offseason, but paying Powell big money is a no-no as the 27 year old has had trouble staying healthy in his career and the Jets checkbook is on lockdown.
With Ivory gone, Bilal Powell comes into focus for Jets. … But the Cowboys, Patriots & Ravens are interested in Powell, per league sources — Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) March 9, 2016
Can’t rule out the Jets
Jets negotiating with RB Bilal Powell, with two other teams in the mix as well. Ex-jet Chris Ivory reached terms with Jacksonville Tues — Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) March 9, 2016
Bobby Rainey- The Jets have shown interest in Bobby Rainey
Matt Forte- Forte has drawn interested from at least the New York Jets and the Miami Dolphins.
Then their is this:
He must be trolling.
